The Hollinwood Canal Society
Here is your chance to "step back in time" and find out about the
fascinating history of Daisy Nook and its canals!
The area's heritage will be celebrated at a Canal Day taking place on
Sunday 17th August. Organised by the Hollinwood Canal Society, the day
of activities will take place at Daisy Nook Country Park, Stannybrook
Road, between Failsworth and Ashton-under-Lyne.
Guided walks will start from the car park at 11.30 am and 2.00 pm. These
will give you the opportunity to learn about the history of the canal
and surrounding area and look at some of the canal features in the
Country Park, such as the locks and aqueducts.
A range of canal-related activities for children will be available
between 11.00 am and 3.30 pm.
For those who remember the canal as it used to be, or those who would
like to find out, old photographs of the canal will be shown throughout
the day inside the Countryside Centre.
All the activities will be free of charge.
