9.00 Guests of Honour to assemble at Saddleworth Museum, Uppermill.
See the Standedge Tunnel display model. Coffee, tea, biscuits.
10.00 Guests of Honour to board onto horseboat Maria, built 1854, Britain’s oldest surviving wooden narrowboat.
10.30 Brownhill Visitors Centre – Oldham Countryside Service have a guided walk, participants to watch the horseboat on the locks
11.00 Transhipment Warehouse, Dobcross. Guests of Honour to visit the Open Day at the offices of the Huddersfield Canal Society
10.30-12.00 Horseboat to ascend the Diggle Flight (1 and ½ hours?)
12 noon Horseboat arrival at Diggle Fields
Event at Diggle Fields 11am – 4pm
14.30 Horseboat in the tunnel. Horse to walk Boat Lane over Standedge.
Horseboat to be legged through tunnel by pairs of leggers taking turns.
17.00-17.30 Horseboat arrival, Tunnel End. Horse to arrive earlier.
Grazing of boathorse on the grass at Tunnel End.
a) on the banking preferred, first choice
b) on the lawns by the Visitor Centre, second choice
NB Grass on bank needs to be left unmown for grazing
Mooring of boat overnight at Tunnel End
