HERITAGE FOOD CALENDAR
A food heritage project that we are aiming to run at Aldwyn School about the history of the
market gardens on Ashton Moss.
We will run 12 intergenerational interviews with the children and interested residents to explore the heritage of growing food (farms and market gardens from 1750's) on the Moss. The children will then draw up their findings and produce a calendar for 2011 for distribution within the
local community.
Caroline Charnock is my contact at the school and I have made the first
steps in arranging a date to start.
We have secured lottery funding to work with six areas around Manchester
and so I am writing to ask if you know of anyone in your area with a particular interest who might like to be involved in this exciting project or volunteer to help with the interviews. We have some money available for
training in oral history and for basic expenses.
Please do not hesitate to phone me for more information on 0161 881 1552
Many thanks for your time and look forward to hearing from you,

I am arranging some really lovely (informal) free training for people interested in the food history calendar project.
I wondered if you would be interested, as the first is to do with copyright issues. This will, amongst other things, be relevant to website entries as we will be creating a site for the 'Forgotten Fields' collection of information www.kindling.org.uk/forgotten-fields.
The training is to be given by Jan Hicks, the archivist at the Museum of Science and Industry hopefully on the morning of 24th May (though this hasn't been finally confirmed yet).
Do you think you might like to be involved and do you know anyone else from your team -
we can take up to three people? There are expenses available for travel and refreshments,
the training is really interesting and free!
I will also be organising some training on collecting oral history to be given by members of the oral history society (interview, transcription and indexing).
I will let others in your group know but if you could quickly spread the word that would be great.
My new mobile number is 07848 026257
Many thanks for your help.
