Volunteer Vacancies at the greenroom Manchester
greenroom is Manchester’s centre for new performance and has showcased thousands of innovative performances since launching in 1983. To celebrate our 25th anniversary and to conserve our oral history before it is lost, greenroom is expanding its archive and running related events.
To assist in this process we are looking for volunteers or Heritage Investigators from our local community. This role will include researching the artists who have performed in the building, contacting artists and arranging interviews, recording conversations and editing material ready for inclusion on the website: Green Room United. In addition volunteers will help to collect data at various events targeting audience members’ recollections and stories.
To prepare you for this project we will provide an induction to oral history research, conducting and editing interviews, including using recording equipment and archiving material and making the material available to the public.
Green Room United will be a rich resource for artists, researchers, students and hopefully anyone who is interested in local history and the cultural legacy that the Green Room has developed over the past 25 years. Mostly the project will capture the journeys of the artists who have performed in the building but we also want to talk to staff and audience members.
We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable communicators. To be involved in the Green Room United project you need to have some availability during the May-December 2009.
Deadline Monday 4th May
